THE TEAM

STAFFORD SCOTT

Host

Stafford is a community activist and race equality specialist with over 30 years of experience in anti-racist advocacy work.

Stafford has worked amongst different agencies, including Waltham Forest Housing Association, the Department of Health and The Kings Fund, providing grassroots solutions to issues of institutional racism affecting the Black community, whilst continuing to support local communities with issues around over-policing, miscarriages of justice and deaths in custody.

Tottenham Rights was initiated as a CIC and a subsidiary of The Monitoring Group (TMG), responding to the police killing of Mark Duggan in 2011 and the UK-wide public disturbances that followed. Working within TMG as an advocate and senior caseworker for eight years, alongside Tottenham Rights cases, Stafford has most recently begun challenging the Metropolitan Police on their discriminatory practices using the Gangs Matrix, use of tasers and other corrupt practices impacting the Black community.

Stafford has been a consistent contributor to the Guardian since 2011 and has written for various publications, including writing 'A Dialogue of Equals' and 'The Government’s Bogus War on Gangs’.

MICHAEL MORGAN

Host

Michael Morgan is a pen-for-hire who has previously written for the Voice, Hip Hop Connection, TOUCH magazine, iNews and the Metro. Passionate about the needs of young adults and those who are living with mental health issues, he spent several years working alongside those who have been excluded from mainstream education as a mentor. A habitual line-stepper, lover of hip hop and hater of snide cops, Michael has been a regular film pundit on BBC Radio Essex. Michael has also presented, produced and directed ‘The Frontrow’ his TV programme, which aired on BEN TV.

DR SARAH PAPARINI

Research Lead

Dr Sara Paparini is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Equity, at Queen Mary University of London. Sara is an anthropologist working at the intersection of public health, anti-racist and participatory health research to achieve health equity. Her interests span intersectional health inequalities, critical implementation science, anti-racist health research, community-led research, and the social aspects of chronic illness.

Sara is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Equity at Wolfson Institute of Population Health at QMUL and the social science lead for the SHARE Collaborative. Prior to joining QMUL, Sara worked as a social scientist at the University of Oxford, at the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, and at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

She has also worked in the NHS carrying out social research in East London hospitals and in the voluntary sector. Sara has lived in East London for 25 years.

WEYLAND MCKENZIE-WITTER

Executive Producer

Weyland McKenzie-Witter is an award-winning multidisciplinary Audio Artist, Creative Producer, and Heritage worker. His practice centres on heritage projects that create new and engaging with existing archival collections through storytelling, oral history and digital humanities.

As an audio producer, his work includes productions for the BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 4, Somerset House, Spotify and more. NELLO sits at the intersection of heritage, cultural production and digital humanities.

NELLO’s work focuses on creating and consulting on humanities projects, creative productions, archival collections, exhibitions, workshops and more. Nello has produced projects in collaboration with the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre, The National Maritime Museum, South London Gallery, Poet in the City, Spotify, Professor Kehinde Andrews and more.

LLOYD GARDNER

Line Producer

Lloyd Gardner is the Creative Director at Wood Green Films, a video production company based in London.

His films for television include “Monday’s Girl” - a 60 minutes rites-of-passage documentary shot in Nigeria for the BBC, “Who is Batting for Britain” and “Black Gold” also for BBC. Other work includes producing and directing training films for UNISON, Transport for London, The Children’s Society, The Department of Health, Haringey Council, Hackney Council, The Royal Horticultural Society, Lennox Lewis (former world heavyweight boxing champion).

Wood Green Films offers services including HD film and music video production, content creation for YouTube, social media, and websites, as well as digital file conversion and DVD duplication.
